In an attempt to get interested again in finishing GTA SA, which I didn't because the damn thing eated up my save, I replaced every single vehicle in the game with their real life counterparts. For example:
They're all period appropriate too... Let's see if I can finish this now. It's not Driver but it should be interesting until Driver 6 comes out someday...

Screw Driver 6, get "The Crew".

Kind of want, but I need all the chase-movieness from the Driver series in my Driving games. Problem is, I've finished all Drivers, save for Driver 3, multiple times already...

Now this is the kind of modding I like! I got tired of seeing much newer cars in a game set in the early 90s. Good taste!

Thanks! It was a pain in the ass to dig up some of those cars, while others were so generic that it was difficult to figure out what to replace them with. The sports cars are a good example... The Cheetah is clearly a Ferrari Testarossa, while the Super GT could be half a dozen different cars, so they ended up as the BMW M1 and Jaguar XJ220, respectively, since I couldn't find a single decent Testarossa and the Super GT was about the right size and shape for the Jaguar. Anyways, yeah, there is one or two cars marked as 1993 in there, while some of the replacers weren't actually sold in the US, but that's it.
Oh yeah, 186 vehicles were replaced in total.

The XJ220 is a much better vehicle to replace the Super GT...although the GT's handling leaves much to be desired. I was thinking of replacing it with a 3000GT or Stealth R/T.

I actually got a Stealth R/T for the Alpha, but every single 300GT I found was late 90's, and much smaller than the Super GT, which could end up conflicting with the collision boxes, so I went with the XJ instead. I don't quite remember what the original Super GT handled like, but I also manually edited the handling files of most of the cars, bikes and planes in the game. Because I have no life, obviously :p

The original Super GT was absolute crap. Great acceleration but it would spin out faster than a 911 if you even thought about turning. It made that final driving test mission nearly impossible for novices.

Oh, I remember now... Oddly enough, I didn't find the final driving test that difficult, the tests where you had to do a barrell roll or a flip were much worse because they always seemed to be completely random to me.
I'll snap some shots of the most interesting cars tomorrow afternoon, by the way, there are a couple worth checking out :)

Are there any mods for the way the AI acts? Since all they do is drive into you for no apparent reason.

There is one that slightly addresses the problem by spawning cars at slower intervals and at more spaced locations, but if you just stand around you'll still see the cars the game sends into one another turning into epic pileups...
If I'd made GTA, some of the driving systems would have been radically different.
